Glass Display Cabinet at Surrey University
Shopkit Go 5G!
Shopkit Group were commissioned by architects Scott Tallon Walker to design manufacture and install contemporary glass display cabinets for the reception and seating area of the new 5G Communications Research Building at the University of Surrey.
The cabinets were to house a large display covering the history of mobile phones, from the very first examples through to the very latest models to go on sale.
The chosen design saw the collection presented within three of our toughened glass display cabinets, which were suspended from the ceiling via 3mm diameter swaged stainless steel cables which run from floor to ceiling.
Each suspended cabinet features four height adjustable glass shelves, a total of six stainless steel hinges and two secure locks, with the mobile phone collection being displayed on a variety of clear acrylic stands which we specifically designed for this installation.
The overall cabinet design is one a simplicity, designed to showcase the contents rather than distract from it. The use of glass and acrylic throughout gives the best opportunity to view the contents from all angles as people reminisce about phones from years gone by!
